Getting a deck permit – How to get a building permit

Handy Father, LLC Posted on September 16, 2014 by Handy FatherSeptember 16, 2014
how to get a building permit

How to get a building permit – First off, I plan to build a deck. I live in Kosciusko County, Indiana.  The building code here states that I must have a permit if building a deck that is more than 12″ off the ground. My yard slopes down (as it should) away from the house for drainage, and the door … Continue reading →

sending online flowers has never been easier thebouqs

Handy Father was approached recently by a new type of flower delivery service. It is near Mother’s Day, so it seems a perfect fit to talk about now. I don’t usually get into the whole flower market a whole lot because you never know what you’re going to get. Sending online flowers has never been easier than with The Bouqs … Continue reading →

How to add-on to an existing deck

This post will be the first in a series to show how to add-on to an existing deck. We are doing an add-on to my dad’s existing deck in the same style the original deck was built, and also adding a larger portion at the end with an eventual gazebo to house a hot tub.

How to prune crab apple trees

How to prune crab apple trees

How to prune crab apple trees; not always a fun job but somebody has to do it! It is usually the most desirable time to prune crab apple trees in the late winter before the tree grows leaves. If you must prune in the summer, as I did today you still may, but run a risk of injuring the plant.

DIY deck & entryway design

How to add-on to an existing deck

DIY Deck & Entryway Design: This is a simple design I’ve come up with to see what the finished deck and entryway remodel might look like. The current faux balcony is rotting off the house, and is not a waterproof awning for those standing in the rain.

Tips for gardening pumpkins

Handy tips for gardening pumpkins

Pumpkins have a fairly long growing and maturing time, as long as 100-120 days.
