Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 14, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 14, 2013
Super Chill Root Beer Review

Fake. Artificial. Generic.

This was not unexpected. Our Super Chill Root Beer review is that this is obviously an inferior root beer in every aspect.

Tips for gardening pumpkins

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 14, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 14, 2013
Handy tips for gardening pumpkins

When gardening pumpkins, there are a few things that you need to know. I’m learning these as I go along. If you live in an area that gets cold in the winter, like I do in Northern Indiana, and you want your pumpkins to be ready for harvest at or around Halloween, then you should consider starting your pumpkins indoors a couple of weeks before threat of frost is past. Pumpkins have a fairly long growing and maturing time, as long as 100-120 days.

Turn garage into functional work area

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 13, 2013 by Sports with DadAugust 13, 2013

I have a 15’x15′ garage. Not very big. Assuming the garage is empty, it is just big enough to hold my wife’s VW Beetle, with a few inches to spare. As you can see from the before photo, my garage was not empty. This before photo was actually taken after we put a bunch of our stuff into those green bins in the middle. Our garage had become a catch all room that I hated to enter.

Tree House Design – Platform

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 13, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 13, 2013
Tree House Design - ideas for the base of the tree house

I’ve been thinking about building the kids a tree house for some time now. We only have one tree in our yard, and it’s a large pine tree… A good tree house design should consider as many details as possible before going into the construction phase.

Turbo Movie Review

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 12, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 12, 2013
Dreamworks turbo movie review

Turbo Movie Review: I always enjoy watching what DreamWorks has to offer. Turbo didn’t disappoint! The movie was interesting enough to keep me watching, and had enough going on to keep the kids entertained. It is well deserving of the “G” rating and kids of all ages as well as adult will love this high-speed animated movie.

How (probably not) to remove a hornet’s nest

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 12, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 12, 2013
remove a hornet's nest

We noticed a few weeks ago that there was a large hornet’s nest in our tree. The way to remove a hornet’s nest, in this case, was unknown to this handy father. I had no clue what to do. My original plan was to wait until winter when the giant hornets were hibernating, and remove it then. This would minimize possible sting damages.

bike repair, local in Syracuse Indiana

I guess it was pretty lucky that there was a bike repair guy so close, and I’ll probably use him again next time I have bike repair issues, unless this handy father can do it on his own!

IBC Root Beer Review

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 7, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 7, 2013
IBC Root beer review by Handy Father

IBC root beer is pretty dark in color, but it is simply the fact that caramel coloring is the third ingredient behind carbonated water and high fructose corn syrup. I don’t find anything special about this root beer. It is drinkable, but not memorable as described on the packaging.

Fishing with my father: Physical fitness day 10

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 7, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 7, 2013
fishing with my father

We didn’t catch much or talk about anything profound, but that isn’t what is important. Spending time with your father is something you can’t do with anyone else. Likewise, spending time with your child can’t be done with anyone else.

Sprecher root beer review by Handy Father

Sprecher Root Beer is brewed and bottled by the Sprecher Brewing Co., Inc. out of Glendale, WI. This Sprecher Root Beer review is based on the opinion of three root beer connoisseurs. The honey and vanilla are prevalent in the flavor and the root beer is very pleasant in consistency and texture.
