Stewart’s Root Beer Review

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 27, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 27, 2013
Stewart's Root Beer Review by Handy Father

This is a heavily carbonated root beer. Stewart’s has a pleasant root beer flavor with no aftertaste. In fact, the flavor of the root beer doesn’t linger at all. Once you swallow the root beer flavor is forgotten, and all that’s left is the high fructose corn syrup.

Henry Weinhard’s Root Beer Review

Henry Weinhard's Root Beer Review by Handy Father

Henry Weinhard’s Root Beer Review – The best head I’ve ever had! “A gourmet root beer, hand-finished with only the highest quality ingredients, including sassafras, honey and vanilla.” This is a dark root beer.  The draught style head as claimed on the packaging lives up to the name.  The head was very thick and creamy, lasting a good long time.  … Continue reading →

Virgil's Root Beer Review

This is one complex flavor in a glass bottle. By far one of the most interesting, spicy root beers on the market. Our Virgil’s root beer review was a pleasure to the palate.

DIY custom bowling lane countertops

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 15, 2013 by Handy FatherAugust 15, 2013
DIY Bowling Lane Countertops

A while back I removed the old Formica counter top from my kitchen counters. I had seen an ad in Auto & RV Magazine for old bowling lane by the linear foot. This got me thinking that it would be cheaper to turn some bowling lane into custom bowling lane countertops, than it would be to buy new counters.

Fake. Artificial. Generic.

This was not unexpected. Our Super Chill Root Beer review is that this is obviously an inferior root beer in every aspect.

Tips for gardening pumpkins

Handy tips for gardening pumpkins

When gardening pumpkins, there are a few things that you need to know. I’m learning these as I go along. If you live in an area that gets cold in the winter, like I do in Northern Indiana, and you want your pumpkins to be ready for harvest at or around Halloween, then you should consider starting your pumpkins indoors a couple of weeks before threat of frost is past. Pumpkins have a fairly long growing and maturing time, as long as 100-120 days.

Turn garage into functional work area

Handy Father, LLC Posted on August 13, 2013 by Sports with DadAugust 13, 2013

I have a 15’x15′ garage. Not very big. Assuming the garage is empty, it is just big enough to hold my wife’s VW Beetle, with a few inches to spare. As you can see from the before photo, my garage was not empty. This before photo was actually taken after we put a bunch of our stuff into those green bins in the middle. Our garage had become a catch all room that I hated to enter.

Tree House Design – Platform

Tree House Design - ideas for the base of the tree house

I’ve been thinking about building the kids a tree house for some time now. We only have one tree in our yard, and it’s a large pine tree… A good tree house design should consider as many details as possible before going into the construction phase.
