Physical Fitness Day 3: Bicycling
Bicycling was the big activity for today. I rode around the lake with my wife. Bicycling is an excellent cardio and strength training workout.
Physical fitness day 3 diet: Five 12 oz glasses of water; lunch: a bowl of left-over handy sausage and potato soup (which is very good reheated); dinner: Chicken and potato taco bake, and fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies for dessert.
Physical fitness day 3 exercise: I walked 3 miles today, and also biked around the lake. Bicycling a total distance of 5.75 miles, doesn’t seem like much, but I’m not really in shape…YET.
Bicycling: Handy father tips to bicycling
I recently purchased the bicycle I rode today for $10 at a yard sale. Getting out and Bicycling doesn’t have to be expensive. The bike I ride isn’t perfect, but I’m not either.
Bicycling is an excellent activity for the entire family. We have three kids, and the younger two don’t have the leg strength to bike very far, but with a child carrier attached to this handy father’s bicycle, the entire family can enjoy a ride together. Generally we travel a short distance with a trip to the park as a destination. The park is a good rest for my weary legs after bicycling with an additional 60 pounds attached to the back.
I highly recommend a street cruiser bicycle or a speed racing bike rather than a mountain bike for every day riding. The skinny tires of a bicycle designed to ride on the road is much easier for road riding because of the little surface area of the tire on the road. This is a vital bit of info, and will save your legs, especially if you’re pulling kids in a carrier.
Get out on the road and go Bicycling with your kids. Spending time as a family makes a handy father. There is no point in being physically fit by yourself. Get out there and enjoy it with those you love most!
