Metal Detecting 1
I’ve been spending a fair bit of time watching some metals detecting videos by YouTube partner “NuggetNoggin”. He is a kid from down south who does a whole lot of digging and has a captivating enthusiasm for metal detecting.
Well, he gave me the bug, and on the coldest day of the year, I spent about an hour traipsing around the yard, two of my kids in tow, metal detecting part of my 3 acre homestead.
Today is a blustery and chilly Northern Indiana fall day.
I found a fair number of relics from the past today. It was the first time I spent any real time detecting on my land since buying it earlier this year. The home was built in 1901, and I don’t know if anything was there prior to that.
Watch the video below to see what I found:
Metal detecting is a fun hobby to get into. I am using the metal detector I bought when I was about 12. I saved up my money for a long time and went to my local Radio Shack and purchased it for $105.00 after tax. It isn’t a really nice metal detector, but it works!
My kids get excited whenever the detector beeps, even if I know the item is junk. We, like NiggetNoggin, will dig any item we find. I figure the benefit of digging even the just is that it is no longer in my yard.
I look forward to searching the whole of my land for more of the past, and to have fun doing it!
