In my childhood, there was just about nothing that I enjoyed doing more than playing a good video game.  I grew up in the days of the Nintendo Entertainment System.  This meant Mario.  I loved playing Mario for hours and hours.  I had a SUPER fun time playing games with that loveable little plumber.

Now that I have a few kids of my own, and a business of my own as well, I don’t usually devote any time at all to video games.  We have a Wii and a PS3, but like I said, I don’t devote much time to them.  The one exception to the lack of video gaming in my life is the Mario franchise on the Wii.  Not only do I enjoy playing these games, but my kids, all three of them, (11, 7, and 3) really like to watch me play Mario!

I love the classic feel of the Wii Mario games.  So far, I’ve played Super Paper Mario and Super Mario Galaxy.  Just a couple days ago I took my son into GameStop to buy Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 – a SUPER fun time playing games with your kids.

Super Mario Galaxy 2 hits on something that all other Mario games to date have missed out on.  It has an amazing 2-player mode that enables one of my kids to join in on the action without slowing me down!  The way Super Mario Galaxy 2 works is the same as Super Paper Mario 1.  You use the Wii Controller with a nunchuk to control Mario through a 3D space, saving Princess Peach.  Point the Wii controller at the TV to aim and shoot as well as other features.  The difference in Super Mario Galaxy 2 is that a second controller can be used to control a Luma, a friendly star-like creature that gives Mario powers in the game. The Luma automatically follows Mario everywhere, so the 2nd player simply helps player 1 by aiming his/her remote and firing on the baddies, or collecting good stuff.

This is an amazing development!  My kids are having a SUPER fun time playing games WITH me, not just watching, but are able to participate.  We are currently just past world 2, where my son and I just defeated Giant Bowser.  There are sure to be many adventures had while playing this game in the future!

Super Mario Galaxy 2!  Five stars and Two Thumbs Up from us!  If you have a Wii, you NEED this game.
